Ward 3 Candidates (2021)

Don L. Hanni was born and raised in Youngstown, OH, and is a 2007 graduate of Youngstown Ursuline High School.  After graduation, he attended Norwich University in Northfield, VT where he played football for the Cadets and studied Criminal Justice. In 2011, he received a Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice.

After graduation, Don immediately began coaching college football at Central Connecticut State University.  He served as the team's Academic Coordinator from 2011 to 2013 and the Defensive Line Coach from 2012-2013.

In 2013, he had a vocation to enter law and left college coaching to begin his legal career at Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, FL.  During his time at Ave Maria, Don received numerous awards and was an active member of both the Knights of Columbus as well as the Saint Thomas More Law Society.  Don received his Juris Doctor from Ave Maria in 2016.

 

In 2016, Don accepted the Associate General Counsel position at Diamond Drugs, Inc. in Indiana, PA and moved here with his family.  In addition to serving as an integral member of Diamond's in-house legal team, Don maintains a small law practice on the side and has served as an assistant football coach at Indiana Area Senior High School since 2019.

 

Don lives in Indiana with his fiancé, Hanna Allen, and their children Iris and Don Lucca.  He enjoys spending time with his family and friends.  In his spare time, Don is an avid gardener and amateur woodworker.

"I am running to help bring back a sense of community that seems all but lost to time. The sort of community where you know your neighbors by name and everyone is committed to seeing the neighborhood and its residents prosper.

I believe the people of Indiana deserve a local government that puts its residents first. As such, I was greatly disappointed with the Council’s formal endorsement of RGGI, its attempt to fine residents for walking outside without a mask, and its ever-increasing taxes disguised as fees or fines for trash removal, parking, permits, and the like. If we had a sense of community like there was years ago, our local government couldn’t, in good conscience, support measures (like these) which have such a direct and immediate detrimental impact on its residents." - Don Hanni
